絶え間ないスクラップ＆ビルドによって、新陳代謝を繰り返す都市、東京。小山は変容しゆく都市の姿を撮影した写真のデータベースから、複数の異なる手法を用いて展開するシリーズ『PHASE TRANS』に2018年より取り組んでいる。小山の実験的な取り組みは、今日のデジタル技術やメディア環境を通してみる都市の姿と、実存としての都市とのズレや矛盾を可視化している。

Tokyo — a city of cyclic metabolism, sustained by its never-ending scrap and build. In 2018 Koyama launched his personal project, PHASE TRANS, through which he has continued to unfold works from his database of photographs capturing the ever-changing city by the employment of several varying methods. These experimental undertakings by Koyama visualize the discrepancy and contradiction between the appearance of the city seen through today’s digital technology and media environment and the objective reality of the city.
