SEVENTH DEPTH

This work is the 4th series of “RAINBOW VARIATIONS”. “SEVENTH DEPTH” was created by the Hasselblad H5D-200MS extreme high resolution digital camera’s multi-shot system. The artist photographed the rainbow-colored inkjet prints from the series “RAINBOW FORM” (2009) by moving the prints randomly while the camera automatically released the shutter six times. This resulted in generated images of ‘multiple exposures’. The final image cannot be seen until they are generated as TIFF or JPEG image formats because this method produces a data which is regarded as an ‘error’ in the developing software. By purposefully using a problematic method, the artist tried to make an experimental piece that consisted of multiple artificial exposures that are produced automatically by the digital device.
