There is a biotope on the rooftop of some buildings in Yurakucho. As an extension of the Imperial Palace forest, it is a place where birds and insects come and go, where sludge and soil are created from decaying plants and organic matter. These natural phenomena affect the urban environment equally, and the dynamics of metabolism and circulation are ever present. In this work, sludge, soil and fallen leaves collected from the rooftops of the Shin-Yurakucho Building and the Shin-Kokusai Building were brought to the YAU STUDIO and fixed into the image using a technique known as the Cyanotype. The sunlight illuminating the Yurakucho Building made visible the existence of soil, which has been hidden or made invisible in modern urban spaces, and the traces of plants that produces soil.
